Football Patriots’ Matthew Judon After Three-Sack Game: ‘Our Best Pass Rusher is emerging’, New England Patriots edge rusher Matthew Judon is tied for the league lead with 14.5 sacks
and is one of the most disruptive players in the NFL. But Judon doesn’t believe he’s even the best pass rusher on his own team.
“I told y’all I wasn’t the best pass rusher, and our best pass rusher is emerging,” Football Patriots’ Matthew Judon said of Uche. “People are going to have to block him. And if they don’t, and they chip my side, and they worry about me, Uche will do that every week.
I just love the way he’s playing with confidence and poise. And this is the most he’s played since he’s been in the NFL. So it’s taken a toll on him, but he’s gone out there, and he’s had a lot of success.

We all knew it, we all knew the type of player he was, he was drafted pretty high here, and now he’s emerging, and folks are going to have to watch. A former second-round pick out of Michigan, Uche has surged in recent weeks. The 24-year-old has generated 10 sacks on the season, all coming in the past six games. In the past five contests, he has three games of 2-plus sacks, including three Monday and three in Week 9’s win over Indianapolis.
“That boy is a baller,” linebacker Raekwon McMillan said. “55 is going to show up and play ball every week so he’s a baller.”
Uche began the season as a situational pass rusher but has recently seen his workload increase Football Patriots’ Matthew Judon. On Monday, he played a season-high 48 snaps (64 percent) a week after playing 32 against Buffalo (second-most).
The next phase in Uche’s development will be working his way into a full-time role opposite Judon on a Patriots defense that has a shot at lifting New England to a postseason bid.

Cole Beasley is back in Buffalo, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday morning that the Bills.
are signing the veteran receiver to the practice squad and expected to elevate him to the game-day roster in short order, per sources informed of the situation.
After seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys to start his career, Beasley spent three years with the Bills from 2019-2021, offering Josh Allen a reliable, chain-moving target.
In his last season with the Bills, the 33-year-old posted 82 catches for 693 yards and one TD in 16 games.
The previous two seasons, the veteran receiver was enmeshed in controversy over his decision not to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and took issue with many of the NFL’s protocols at the time.
Information Regarding Beasley’s Resignation
In the offseason, Beasley was granted permission to seek a trade and eventually released in March.
Beasley signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad in September but played just two games, catching four passes for 17 yards, before his release.
In October he announced his retirement, saying “it’s time to be a full-time dad and husband.”
Now, the possession receiver is headed back to Buffalo for the postseason run.
The Bills have been searching for veteran depth behind Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis and Isaiah McKenzie. With Jamison Crowder still on IR, Beasley could step in immediately to fill the slot role and provide Allen with a trusty receiver who already knows the offense.
Buffalo hosted star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. for a recent visit — one of three teams to do so (New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys).
But with questions about OBJ’s availability for the regular season, the Bills will bring in Beasley, who is ready to play now. The signing marks the second time in two days that a club in the Beckham sweepstakes has signed a veteran receiver, with the Cowboys adding T.Y. Hilton on Monday. Clearly, the concerns about OBJ’s readiness to return from the ACL have clubs looking elsewhere for immediate help.

Despite Kyler Murray exiting Monday night’s game with a serious knee injury after just three plays, the Arizona Cardinals battled for a halftime lead over the New England Patriots. Then the entire contest flipped.
Arizona wouldn’t score again in the eventual 27-13 loss.
“It’s tough, obviously. The fumble hurt us more than anything and I take responsibility for it, for that,” Hopkins said after the game, via the official transcript. “I think that’s where everything went downhill when they got the momentum. It just seemed like it kept coming, so it’s on me. I take full responsibility.”
Plan To Get To The Hot Seat
The Cardinals never recovered from the fumble. Backup Colt McCoy threw an interception on the next drive that the Patriots turned into another TD, effectively ending Arizona’s chances.
“He hasn’t done that much, but in that situation, he knows you’ve got to make sure you secure that. It just can’t happen in that situation,” coach Kliff Kingsbury said.
Hopkins caught a game-high seven passes for 79 yards as Arizona moved the ball well early, punting just once in the first half. But the miscues, as they have all season for Kingsbury’s club, sunk them once again.

1. Depth wins for New England, Football Patriots’ Matthew Judon.
This game got ugly on the injury front early. New England lost DeVante Parker to a head injury and defensive back Jack Jones to a knee ailment early,
then watched bulldozing running back Rhamondre Stevenson exit with an ankle injury.
Stevenson returned briefly before leaving for good, thinning out the Patriots’ list of game-changers on the road. No matter for Bill Belichick’s squad, which turned to its depth to take home a win.
South Dakota State product Pierre Strong finally saw the field after spending most of the season on ice and didn’t waste much time before making an impact, catching a Mac Jones pass for a 16-yard gain and using his top-flight speed to race around the left end for a 44-yard gain on the ground, setting up a game-tying Nick Folk field goal.
Sixth-round rookie Kevin Harris joined the party, too, picking up 32 yards and scoring a touchdown on his first three carries to give the Patriots an early 7-3 lead. The offense was far from perfect, but the Patriots were able to turn to their lesser-known players to win a game they absolutely needed at this point in the season. We shouldn’t expect anything less from a Belichick squad.
2. Cardinals just can’t shake their mistakes And Football Patriots’ Matthew Judon
We’ll start with Arizona’s eight penalties, which consistently undercut its ability to put together meaningful drives, but it was more than that.
The other failed conversion — before things got desperate and required Arizona to go for it — happened because Marquise Brown dropped a pass downfield.
That fumble resulted in a Raekwon McMillan fumble-return touchdown, putting the Patriots ahead in what was previously a tie game. Add in a missed field goal and you have a collection of mistakes that narrowed Arizona’s already slim margin for error. This stuff isn’t just a coincidence, but symptomatic of everything that has been wrong with the Cardinals this season. If you need an explanation for Arizona’s disappointing campaign, this game was a good example.
3. A tough season gets exponentially worse for Arizona.
Kyler Murray already missed two games due to a hamstring issue this season, and Monday night produced an injury that will likely end his season.
Murray was in the midst of a trademark scramble when he attempted to cut upfield to avoid a defender. Kliff Kingsbury said afterward that it doesn’t look good for Murray, meaning we can expect the worst.
For a Cardinals team that never fully exited the starting blocks in 2022, this is likely the final blow that should send them to darkness, and it’s no fault of backup quarterback Colt McCoy.
We already saw what might end up proving to be the high-water mark for McCoy back in Week 10, when he finished with over 230 passing yards and a 96.5 passer rating in a win over the Rams.
McCoy is a gritty, tireless competitor who pours himself into preparation in the event he’s called upon, but his ceiling doesn’t inspire much hope.
It seems as if the Cardinals, a team with enough talent on paper to contend, are headed nowhere with one month left.
4. Josh Uche is on fire.
It took him until Week 8 to make an impact, but if you haven’t paid attention to Uche in the last two months, it’s time to catch up.
He built on that against Arizona, recording three more sacks as part of five total tackles. Uche wasn’t just getting after the quarterback, though.
When he couldn’t quite get home on a second-down play late in the third quarter, he used his hands to great effect, deflecting a McCoy pass and sending it toward the State Farm Stadium roof.
The ball fell into the hands of two-way dynamo Marcus Jones for an interception. Five plays later, Strong was in the end zone, giving the Patriots a commanding 27-13 lead. Matthew Judon rightfully attracts the most attention on New England’s defense, but it’s about much more than just the man with the red sleeves. Players like Uche make this group a legitimate threat, and on Monday night, that threat proved to be valid.
5. Patriots snap big-stage losing streak to pull even with Jets.
New England entered Monday night owning an 0-3 record in exclusive window games this season, losing on Monday Night Football, Thanksgiving and Thursday Night Football in 2022.
Their fourth such contest went much differently, and could help them mount a late-season push for the playoffs.
Thanks to New York’s three losses in its last month (including a defeat at the hands of the Patriots for a New England season sweep), the Patriots received a second chance at fighting their way back into the hunt.
At 7-6, they own the head-to-head tiebreaker with New York and are building momentum that could produce an unlikely playoff berth.
The road doesn’t get any easier, with road games against the Raiders and Bills sandwiching home dates with the Bengals and Dolphins, but the Patriots deserve credit for overcoming a two-game losing streak by traveling across the country and taking down the woeful Cardinals.
They’ll have to repeat this performance, with defense leading the way, but they have a chance at this point, and considering how this season has gone, that’s all they can ask for.
Next Gen stat of the game: Pierre Strong reached a max speed of 20.86 mph on his 44-yard rush, the fastest top speed for a Patriots ball-carrier this season. His plus-35 rushing yards over expected are the second-most on a single carry for the Patriots this season.
